1. Junior Network Engineer - pfSense®

A great opportunity to work for one of the few Netgate Partners and Cisco-Talos integrators in the UK. We are looking for the right candidate to help us run the ITG-Shop, as well as support and maintain our customers’ pfSense installations and infrastructure. This role also offers the opportunity to work with our sister company, XCommNet, which specializes in SD-WAN and mobile connectivity solutions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Certificate of Higher Education (preferred)
  • Enthusiastic about Technology, Networking and Cyber Security
  • Good understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP model
  • Experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Willing to learn and develop as part of a customer focused team

Duties and Responsibilities

  • e-Commerce order fulfilment for the ITG-Shop
  • Provide excellent customer service to all clients via verbal and written communication
  • Provide 1st Level support and troubleshooting to resolve network issues
  • Be the first point of contact for client calls and escalate to engineers
  • Logging all details of faults into the ticketing systems
  • Coordinate tests and troubleshooting for clients to resolve faults
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: £25,000 – £30,000 + performance-based reward

This role also offers the opportunity to work with our sister company, XCommNet, which specializes in SD-WAN and mobile connectivity solutions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience
  • Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related subject

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configure and install pfSense devices and services (e.g. Firewall rules, Suricata, Snort, FRR, Load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide 2-3 Level support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s and customer’s security team
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: £50,000 – £55,000 + performance-based reward
