About IaaS

What is IaaS?
IaaS stands for Infrastructure as a Service and is the capability of providing a pool of fundamental computing resources as service. The user of such resources is able to deploy and run arbitrary software, which can include operating systems and applications. The user does not manage or control the underlying infrastructure but has control over operating systems, storage, and deployed applications; and possibly limited control of select networking components (e.g., host firewalls).

What type of business requires an IaaS?
An Infrastructure as a Service is ideal for businesses developing, running, and managing applications that want to avoid dealing with the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure associated with developing and launching such applications. From the financial stand point, IaaS and PaaS swift the standard model of the traditional IT procurement from CapEx to OpEx reducing and in some cases eliminating the costs associated with purchasing and maintaining an IT infrastructure.
